Synthesis Platform Tips

Foundations of Reliability Engineering Data Analysis and Modeling

Put the power of an integrated reliability platform to work for you!

The Synthesis Platform offers enormous potential to integrate reliability program activities and tools, while simultaneously facilitating effective information sharing and cooperation between engineering teams of any size.
At the same time, we recognize that the experience of working with database-driven, multi-user applications will be a bit different from other types of “standalone” applications that you may be more familiar with (such as prior versions of Weibull++, BlockSim and other ReliaSoft applications).
To help ease the transition, we have compiled some targeted tips and FAQs that are designed to help you take full advantage of the new database-driven Synthesis Platform. You might also wish to review a summary of the three different ways in which Synthesis applications can be used: single-user, multi-user or enterprise.

What happened to the ‘Save’ button?

For standard and enterprise repositories, Synthesis desktop applications do not provide a Save command because your changes are saved in the database as you work. You can use “Restore Points” to roll back if needed.
Now in Version 10, if you are working alone in a single Synthesis desktop application and prefer to be able to close a file without saving changes, you can use the new “Synthesis file” format instead.

Granting different access levels for different projects

Synthesis applications now allow multiple users to work simultaneously in the same shared database. The flexible Security Groups feature makes it possible to provide each user account with different types of access for different types of projects.
