RBI: Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Software

Full-featured RCM with risk based inspection

ReliaSoft’s RBI software facilitates risk based inspection (RBI) analysis for oil & gas, chemical and power plants in adherence to the principles and guidelines presented in the American Petroleum Institute’s recommendations in the API RP 580 and RP 581 publications, as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ recommendations in the ASME PCC-3-2007 publication.

Full-featured Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and FMEA / FMECA functionality is also included.

Software Features

Designed with the specific needs of oil & gas, chemical and power plants in mind, RBI provides full-featured support for reliability centered maintenance analysis (RCM) together with a flexible and intuitive interface for risk based inspection (RBI) analysis. You can start by using RBI’s customizable risk discovery feature to perform a quick qualitative assessment that saves time and effort by identifying the specific assets that require the full RBI analysis. When you are ready to perform a more detailed quantitative analysis for selected components, RBI leads you through the detailed RBI assessment process for all of the equipment and component types covered in API RP 580/581, including compressors, heat exchangers, pipes, pressure vessels, pumps, tanks and pressure relief devices.

Synthesis Integration

With integration into the Synthesis Platform, analyses are now stored in a centralized database that supports simultaneous access by multiple users and shares relevant reliability information between Synthesis-enabled software tools. For enterprise-level repositories, both Microsoft SQL Server® and Oracle® are supported.

Available Training

ReliaSoft offers a two-day training course that presents an introduction into risk based inspection based on API RP 581, with hands-on training in the use of the RBI software for analysis, data management and reporting.

Benefits and Applications

Some of the potential applications and benefits for using Risk Based Inspection (RBI) analysis techniques and ReliaSoft’s RBI software tool as part of your organization’s asset management program include the ability to:

  • Rank assets using a customizable qualitative risk discovery rating system, and then use a quantitative analysis based on industry standards to predict the risk for selected assets.
  • Develop an inspection schedule that optimizes inspection time and cost while maintaining acceptable risk based on the recommended inspection types and inspection date for each asset.
  • Use Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques to develop scheduled maintenance plans that will provide an acceptable level of functionality, with an acceptable level of risk, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
